I've been a freelancer for exactly one year now, and it has been an excellent experience. Every question I have ever had, has been accurately answered. Great customer support, everything is clear upfront and excellent place to work as a freelancer. Although I know there are other platforms that charge less, I prefer Upwork, since the quality of the clients are higher and more professional.
The site is useful in a lot of ways, but not so good when you have a problem. My feedback has been ruined by a conman who didn't complete the work I assigned to him and demanded additional money. I was busy and missed the notifications where he was automatically paid. That's ok, but I am unable to leave him feedback and he has been able to leave me extremely libellous feedback, which I have basically paid him to do... He has done nothing, taken my money and left terrible feedback. I have no redress - Upwork is unable to help me; a long standing, paying user...

I got work initially but I am struggling for months now. I am spending my money to buy connects but I am still on the way.
It feels like I am on the wrong platform and only those who take the memberships, are succeeding.
I have paid 200 usd to a Freelancer for Photo editing pictures and the Freelancer did not do the job
Upwork just emailed me that they CANNOT refund my money
--- I chose Upwork because of the safety payment and protection , However, today, I lost 200 usd ---
Honestly, Upwork has helped me save my business and expand my public relations whilst making sure that my service fee is respected and paid.
I wish i started working with my personal clients on Upwork earlier. It's a great way to connect with all parts of the world on a business level ! I would highly recommend it to any person !

Upwork has been the best job platform for me, there are some minor issues that is needed to raise but my overall experience is still superb.
Upwork is truly amazing freelancing platform..Proffesional one.I am amazed to see it.
You can find a steady stream of work - and overall job fulfilment - on Upwork. Of course, just like in real life, you'll have to work really hard but it pays off in the long run.
Great platform, easy to navigate, but hoping for improvement on helping freelancers find a job that really suit them.
I was previously working on freelancer.com but I left because they made a major change and they had a flow, so I signed up on upwork so what I really like about upwork is you can easily filter projects with verified payments etc which helps you save time and not forced to find the credible clients from thousands of fake projects, and the bids are not visible to everyone like freelancer.com which I really like.
Keeping bids sealed is the best practice.
Upwork project filters are awesome.
You can be successful with free connects that's so nice.
